First of all what is cellulite? It’s dimpled skin caused by fat pressed up against connective tissue that surrounds fat cells - for example our thighs. This then creates a bulging of the cells resulting in a lumpy effect. Sometimes it can be more down to genetics, but there are still ways you can minimise it’s appearance.
1. Eating a well balanced diet - this means you don’t have to cut out a whole food group, but make sure you are eating carbs, healthy fats and protein. Aim for single ingredient foods as well as fruit and vegetables to help remove waste and toxins and provide us with the nutrients we need. Make sure you are drinking plenty of water at least 2 litres per day.
2. Exercise regularly. I would recommend weight training to build muscle and burn fat. By burning body fat you will reduce the cellulite and have more of the “toned” look many women aim for. I would recommend working up to lifting heavy - squats, deadlifts, lunges, hip thrusts get these spot on first then start adding in more exercises.
3. Massaging CAN help as it stimulates circulation and breaks up fluid beneath the skin
Remember cellulite is completely normal and all women have it to some degree - me included! So please don’t feel like you’re the only person. Due to our hormonal make up we are much more prone to it than men and especially as we age cellulite can increase due to breaking down of collagen and natural decrease in estrogen levels.
